In my copious amounts of spare time (ah, I never tire of that phrase) I’ve started to read Godel, Escher, Bach, which I’ve had recommended to me many times. The easiest, quickest, most inadequate way to describe the book is: It’s about loops. Of course, I haven’t read much of it yet, but that’s my feeling.

For a while now, I’ve been thinking about history as cyclical. Maybe not quite cyclical, but very similar events happening over and over without people noticing their impact, or noticing them at all. Things like the number of times the US has interfered with a foreign government. Or the stock market. It just seems like the world is running in circles sometimes.

One thing that we must not forget his history. All of history, not the selective histories that most people learn or pick up. History from a more unbiased perspective; or if not unbiased, then from multiple perspectives.

In other news, I’m on a big classic rock binge. The vast majority of my musical consumption has been Led Zeppelin and The Doors. Yum.
