  • all the small things

Generous hardware donations are awesome. Thanks to everyone who’s thrown me:

    • three sticks of 64MB SDRAM DIMMs (two PC133, one PC66)
    • a Yamaha CRW6416S 16x6x4 SCSI burner
    • an Apple Extended Keyboard, mouse, and AAUI->RJ45 adaptor for my soon-to-be-alive PowerMac 6100/66

And just in cas you think I’m a greedy bastard, I’ve already given away one stick of that RAM to a poor K6-2/500 machine in need.

    Other that that, there’s only:

    • my CIS443 assignment (Info Systems)
    • my PHIL211 assignment (Logic)
    • my CIS443 midterm (Info Systems)
    • my MATH215 assignment (Matrix Algebra)

to finish this week. That’s all! Good thing I rested up in Florida.
Which was great, thank you for asking. Although I don’t think I could have stayed more than four days at Disney World. It was interesting, and a lot of fun. My favourite ride was the bed. It was comfortable. In case you’re not getting it, I slept a lot 🙂 But seriously, Disney World was a lot of fun. I just let Sandy drag me around, and so I think I saw all the best parts and skipped all the crap. Which was good. Yes. Good.
Look, I’ve had 12 hours of sleep for the last week, and last night I got 7. I’m adjusting, alright? Excuse my incoherence.

  • I hate C.

I like Java. I hate C. I’m of the opinion that fugly system I/O calls and such garbage should only be written once, not over and over again my sleepy programmers and students. I want my Java back.

  • yeah, I’m back

    … more details to follow.

  • If I seem strange to you today

…it’s because I’m damn tired. While the plumber’s banging away, I might as well take this time to update this oft-neglected space.

But first, a quote from our current fav band:

If I seem strange to you today
    Different than I ever have
And if I come to you in waves
Waves that break and fall before you reach them
    Perhaps I’ve found a way
A way to get is out of this
Or maybe it’s my fault again

Not meant to mean anything, I’ve just been listening to it a lot.
Anyways. The past week. Yeah. There’s a lot of schoolwork going on, which I suppose is a good thing. And it’s all getting done, that’s a good thing too. So it all got done. Which was good.

On Friday we had a big early birthday party for Sandy’s 23rd. Lots of people came, and there was excessive amounts of having fun everywhere. It was great, and she had a great time. I will have to put up my photos sometime soon. I’m lazy.

  • and you thought it couldn’t get any worse…

Water leak. Waiting for emergency plumber. Oh wait, I think he just got here.

  • dunno. no title.

Busy. Crazy weekend. Must write paper. Must do assignment. Must leave for Florida.

  • I could spend every night boppin’ downtown downtown

Friday Jordan and Sari came to Guelph (the sound it makes when you sit in Jello) to see Erin Smith Band at the Trash. It was also my friend Nic’s birthday. So Jordan and Sari arrived at 7:30, and Sandy and I had dinner with them and awaited my friend’s birthday party. What happened next confirmed everything I already knew about Guelph bus drivers. The bus with Nic and all his friends on it got into an accident. No one was hurt, but it was just funny.

Then there was a lot of drinking, Jordan and Sari went to the Trash, and I showed up there around 11. I only saw the last few songs by Erin Smith, but they were good. Real good. It’s like a funk song grafted onto a folk singer. Sandy and I bought all of their CDs.

Eventually we all ended up ad our place, and a good time was had by all.

  • dum de update

Made a quick addition to Newton Resources: added some original Newton ads that originally came from cupertino.de.

  • head cold

Hrm. I wrote that title and thought… I dunno what. Colds suck. Yeah.
They suck for motivating yourself too. I can’t think of anything that they’re good for, actually.

I feel so trendy. I actually set up Blogger blog on a website. No, this site doesn’t use Blogger. It’s 100% my own crappy scripts.

  • zwan

Listening to Zwan right now, Billy Corgan and James Iha’s new band.
Interesting. A bad recording of their show though.

The week is over, yay. Had three assignments, one easy, two average. Got it all done. Felt great about that.

Yesterday I was away all day. In the morning my parents came and picked me up and we went to visit my Grandma. She’s been living with Alzheimer’s for… seven years now? I’m not sure, I haven’t visited her in a long time. She’s been in full-time care for a while. It was a little scary.
She can’t really talk anymore. She just… sits there. It was really sad, there’s not much more to say.

The rest of yesterday, however, was spent at the first meeting of Southern Ontario Newton Users in a long time. We spent over three hours talking, comparing machines and accessories, beaming, helping, beaming, disassembling eMates, beaming, and such. It was great, and I got to put faces to names I’ve seen on the mailing list for a long time. Peter Cameron took a few photos and put them up. From top to bottom, here are my descriptions of the photos:

    1. Left: Roman Tarnovetsky, artist and guitar maker, with Mimi Cipollone, teacher, on the right.
    2. I’ve forgotten some names already 🙁
    3. That’s Jonathan Wise in the centre, and me on the side opening up Mimi’s original RCU box.
    4. L to R: Stephanie Maks taking apart someone’s eMate, Greg Spencer in the middle I believe, and Michael Blazer on the right. Michael brought “loot bags” for everyone – thanks Michael!
    5. Roman looking at something-or-other on his Powerbook.
    6. A great photo of one of the eMate hinge repairs Stephanie did. Mimi brought some thin roofing washers and used some tin snips to fashion them into spring retainers.
