  • oh, the irony

I just got an HTML e-mail from FreeDrive with a subject of “Having trouble with those E-Mail attachments?” No, actually, just those frickin’ annoying HTML e-mails, but thanks for asking! (Delete)

  • wandering stars

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, anyone? This reminded me of an article in the National Post a few weeks ago that claimed that many cases of Carpal Tunnel were merely psychosomatic. I know my tendonitis wasn’t.

Jordan has got me reading Portal of Evil news. It’s a good balance with my usual reading of BBC World.

Finally, finally, one of my co-workers gave me a 5-minute description of how Cricket is played. Now when I watch BBC World I won’t toally glaze over when they do the cricket scores 🙂

  • i wanna 1 2 1 with you

I finally got my new Nokia GSM phone reliably talking to my computer, changed my operator logo, found out that my phone won’t support startup logos, uploaded ringtones. Yay. Now if only I can fscking export/import from the phone list, I’ll be set.

  • shiggity shiggity shwa

Uh. Yeah. This. (Flash required). This was pretyy weird, but now “the funniest thing ever” Jordan.

Morning: almost forgot cell phone. plumbing in kitchen at work screwed up, so no clean dishes, so no coffee. mailing list tom-foolery. couldn’t deposit money order.

  • this song has no chorus

Yesterday was Sandy and I’s nine month anniversary. Wow. Pretty exciting.

I left the evilness that is Rogers AT&T Wireless and switched to the GSM goodness that is Fido. Mmmmm. Real standards.

  • i have a love/hate relationship with perl

Perl being a programming language, of course. I love writing my own perl script from scratch. I hate maintaining this other perl code that’s become so twisted, there are more names for the same variables than a Russian Novel.

  • when the water filter reservoir is empty…

… fill a mug with ice from the ice machine (which is also filtered) and set it on top of a coaster on top of your monitor. Monitors generate a lot of heat, and the coaster is so that you don’t fry your monitor with the condensation.

    • Eat lunch
    • Buy CD-Rs

Nine days after I mentioned that I’ve got just over 9000 hits, I’ve now got over 9500. Wow. I can’t imagine why you’d want to read this. Maybe it’s because I occasionally post crazy links like this.

  • more things you realize when you manage a mailing list

    • Some people have really, really poorly configured mail transfer agents. Pray for them.

This weekend was great. Saw Shrek (pretty good, non-motion captured characters really don’t move very naturally though) and Tomb Raider (I thought it was alright, if a little slow at times. Am I the only one?). Went out and watched drunk people make fools of themselves (I was the sober one, being the designated driver and all). Fiddled with DVD player.

This is a volunteer-run astronomy centre built on a former US DoD site. Apparently, then still have buildings full of DoD equipment welded to the floors. (Thanks Tony for the link)
