I put this comic up in my office today. Heh.
And yes, Calum, I will fix the photos.

I finally wrote some code so that I can update this page easier. No more editing tables for me – now everything is parsed by a script that reads normal text files. Yay!
Oh. This means that all of the entries below this one might have spaces in the wrong place. Oops. I’ll make an archive soon and start moving old stuff to another page.
I dunno… but whatever I play, it gotta be funky.
Updated the Photos section (the friends link now works, and yes Jordan, I added those photos), threw some quick info in the Code section, and fixed some missing FONT tags.
I don’t think I could ever deal with being in advertising. Of all the ads I see , over 90% are total crap IMO. I don’t think I could ever deal with lowering my creative standards so low that I would have to turn out such utter crap just be cause that’s what the client wants. My favourite example is McCain’s ongoing to tally lame campaign. I have never, ever, ever seen a decent McCain’s commercial . Ever. I really don’t think Roberto Alomar or Elvis Stojko can sell fruit jui ce, or telling people that concentrated orange juice contains the juice of 16 or anges really matters.
Lots of web site work to do today. I’ve got a list of about 10 things to do, mo stly on Newton Resources.
In case you didn’t know, Bob the Angry Flow er is da bomb.
Thi
s is really making me want to buy a Dreamcast. Let’s count the
features: co
nnects to my Neo Geo Pocket Color, plays classic Sega Genesis/Megadrive
and TG16
/PC Engine games, and might play PSX games (and I was considering getting
a PS1
cheap soon), as well as those Dreamcast titles. Sweeet (yes, with three
e’s).
Now if only I had large amounts of disposable income, and large amount of
free t
ime to play.
Song: James Brown – Get Up (I feel like being a Sex Machine),
Pt. 1
Don’t ask. I’ve been having recurring James Brown cravings. I
finally foun
d my CD too.
Today was my first day at work. I work for
dotSoftware Incorporated
/Maptuit.com
Incor
porated. I do… well to be perfectly honest I don’t think I really
have a
job description. I expect to be doing a wide variety of things there,
which is
good, ’cause I like variety and I like being challenged.
It’s a nice change of pace having a normal routine compared to the hectic crazy pace of university. I woke up, had a shower, breakfast, checked my mail and rea d the daily webcomics, got on the TTC, made it to work, got set up with my cube / computer / phone / accounts, worked all morning, lunched with most of the othe r people there (it’s a small company), worked all afternoon, took the GO Train h ome. It was beautiful. The only random thing that happened is that I ran into Sarah Liss (UTS Class of 1998) randomly at the corner of Church and Front, but u nlike university, this random thing wasn’t destructive or complicated. It was j ust good.
I’ve found that since I got my Newton back and I started wearing my BurroPak I’ve been using my Newton mu ch more as a scribblepad than I ever did before. I’ve been writing down random ideas that pop into my head, things that I’ve wished I’d written down all these years. On a handheld platform that died over two years ago. Hrm.
Jordan, go back to work.
I also added a bit to the Writings section. Czech it o ut.
Song: The Breeders – Cannonball

Aah, memories of the UTV”93 Preview. Heh. I have absolutely no clue
what the
lyrics to this song are, but I love the bass line. Bass = Good. No,
wait, I
I have a confession to make: I’m hopelessly addicted to BBC World, channel 501 on Sta rChoice. I can’t really explain why. I use to always watch BBC World News on CBC NewsWorld (every night at 6pm), and now I can watch it 24 hours a day. I also really like the new graphics and music they have to bring the channel toge ther. I gotta record some of that.
I spent last night madly trying to add some Newton commercials to my Newton Cage site, only to wake up groggily this morning, login here, and type ‘rm -rf *’ in the wrong directory. Poof, th ere goes my entire site. Thank god I have backups – I have an exact copy on my personal workstation and always edit locally and then upload the new pages. So all morning I was just uploading the entire site again. Crap. Also, I hadn’t b acked up my new spiffy bookmark thing, so that’s now gone again. Damn.
I went to Google today and queried for ‘chum a’ and found this page. An d that was about it. So I immediately went and added this site to Google 🙂
I want to build one of these. Maybe I’ll give
Tony
a shout and lookup some part costs from Digikey.
I gotta get more photos up.
Song: Beatnuts – Do You Believe
On a big hiphop swing today it seems. Lots of Beatnuts, Nas, Tribe,
Choclair, a
nd tapes from CIUT.
I’m happy to report that seven months in Zimbabwe has not damaged Leo’s ability to drink large amounts of alcohol. We ended up at this party with UTS Class of 98 people and a bunch of U of T Eng.Scis. The security guard for the building w as playing pool and drinking with us – I have photographic proof, it’ll be up la ter.
I think I added the right FONT tags now, so everything should come out in Arial (or Helvetica for UNIX). Lemme know if it’s messed up. I also started fixing up the Photos section.
FINALLY, my replacement Newton MP2100 arrived from Apple today. It makes me ver y, very happy to have my life back.
Tonight Leo will be getting back from Zimbabwe and I’m going to a little dinner / party thing that his parents are arranging for him. Should be good. I wonder if he’ll have changed completely, or if he’ll drink 12 beer and start playing p oker 🙂
Also today I decided to officially unleash the new Newton Resources URL to the unwashed masses.
Meerkats are cute. Every time I go to the zoo I make sure to pay a visit
to the
meerkat exhibit. Those guys are just so damn cute. And pretty smart,
too. Meerkat is a headline
sweeper tha
t collects headlines from tons of different news sites and shows you only
the on
es you want. And it’s updated automatically. Nifty.
I suggest you all go and bow down to Wesley, God of Web Design Supreme right now. If you already do so on a daily basis, then continue.
I’ve been sifting through my bookmark s lately and found this really fun site from Japan. I remember last year I spent an entire night just tur ning lights on and off. It’s really fun to do when you see Japanese businesspeo ple scurrying around underneath.
