…is the sound of the new washer/dryer. It’s a good sound. Except that our stove isn’t hooked up yet. But it should be today. When your landlord goes out and randomly buys a new laundry centre for your unit, you know they’re good.

This is entry #400. Cool. We’re just under 15 000 hits on the front page. Nifty. I guess people do read this.

Sandy bought the Barenaked Ladies “best of” disc. In my opinion, I already own their “best of” albums: Gordon and Maybe You Should Drive. The only song I really like after those is Straw Hat and Old Dirty Hank. Sure, I’ll listen to their older stuff, but I greatly enjoy giving He’s Not the King of Bedside Manor a spin.

  • gah.

Dream: myself, Sandy, random characters from that damn movie, in some kind of WWII espionage plot. Weird.

Fujitsu hard drives are all cursed. That is my final conclusion. All of them. Utter garbage. Do not buy a Fujitsu hard drive, ever. I think I’m going to start a new policy of “no Fujitsus.” If your machine has a Fujitsu hard drive, I’m not going to touch the bleeding thing. No. Away with you. Go buy yourself a nice Quantum or Maxtor. A Fujitsu died in my hands today. It had important data on it (not mine). It should not have died. I did nothing wrong (independently verified). Now it will cost hundreds of dollars to recover the data.

  • wow, that’s bitter.

Mr. J. Brad Hicks’s resume gives some pretty compelling reasons for not going into LAN/WAN/IT administration. Wow. Ouch.

  • I knew that ZNAP had a use after all…

A while ago, I bought a ZNAP set for $19, just to get another Technic motor and the cool flexible shafts. Now I’ve finally found a use for the actual pieces.

  • reigning those customers in

So the other day I called Fido, my cell phone service provider, to cancel my service since I really haven’t been using it enough in the past few months to justify the cash. As usual, when you want to cancel any service with anyone, they’ll want to know why you want to do so. So I’m giving the phone drone on the other end of the line some line about how I’m in school now, and not using it as much as during the summer, when I was working. Suddenly he says “well, it’s statistically proven that people use their cell phones less over the winter, and we really want to keep you as a customer, so we’re willing to give you three months of free service.” After I picked up my jaw, I said “well, I guess I can’t turn down that offer” and that was that. Insane. I wonder what combination of database triggers and items allowed him to offer me that…

  • i need you here with me, not way over in a bucket seat

Yesterday was Rememberance Day. Sandy and I went to visit my parents at their cottage for the day, which was really really nice. A nice way to end a very busy week.

Three days before Rememberance Day, I had a sudden urge and registered flandersfields.ca. I’ve put up a very simple page there for now but I’m not quite sure what else I want to do with it. I’m open to suggestions.

    Cake. Cake is good.

Stick shifts and safety belts Bucket seats have all got to go When I’m driving in my car It makes my baby seem so far

I need you here with me Not way over in a bucket seat I need you to be here with me not way over in a bucket seat

  • walkin’ around

I made the Radio Shack guy walk all around the store, and then not buy anything. Hee hee. Probabaly because it was all overpriced crap.
Interesting to note that the Compucentre next-door was completely empty.

I finally picked up the LEGO TIE Fighter I’ve been looking for. The TIE Fighter model that looks like an actual TIE Fighter, not the TIE Advanced that comes with the Y-Wing. But now I want this one. I don’t think it’s even out yet. But dammit, that’s cool.

  • going through the motions

Well, that little freshening-up didn’t take that long.

I hope I’m not the only person who thinks Tuesday’s Buffy Episode should get an Emmy…

  • and long ago somebody left with the cup

I desperately want a new design for this site. No time. Damn, there’s some slick stuff out there. Like Splorp and Chrominance above, or like sixfoot6. Gah.

Reluctantly crouched at the starting line, Engines pumping and thumping in time. The green light flashes, the flags go up. Churning and burning, they yearn for the cup. They deftly maneuver and muscle for rank, Fuel burning fast on an empty tank. Reckless and wild, they pour through the turns. Their prowess is potent and secretly stearn. As they speed through the finish, the flags go down. The fans get up and they get out of town. The arena is empty except for one man, Still driving and striving as fast as he can. The sun has gone down and the moon has come up, And long ago somebody left with the cup. But he’s driving and striving and hugging the turns. And thinking of someone for whom he still burns.

He’s going the distance. He’s going for speed. She’s all alone In her time of need. Because he’s racing and pacing and plotting the course, He’s fighting and biting and riding on his horse, He’s going the distance.

No trophy, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no wine, He’s haunted by something he cannot define. Bowel-shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse, Assail him, impale him with monster-truck force. In his mind, he’s still driving, still making the grade. She’s hoping in time that her memories will fade. Cause he’s racing and pacing and plotting the course, He’s fighting and biting and riding on his horse. The sun has gone down and the moon has come up, And long ago somebody left with the cup. But he’s striving and driving and hugging the turns. And thinking of someone for whom he still burns.
