  • now, 25% more expensive consumer electronics!

Do you have a decent amount of MP3s, and a CD burner?

Go out and buy this. Now. Do it. It will be worth every penny. It kicks ass and takes names. It flys.

  • mmmm. chair.

Got a new chair at work yesterday. It good. It comfy. It doesn’t suck, like my old one did.

I totally forgot that no one would be home today to sign for my Soul Player, so I had to get it redirected to my office for tomorrow. Hopefully it will arrive here so I’ll get a chance to play with it and take it to Guelph for the weekend.

I read this really great page once on why Flash is evil. What happened to me just now when I went to the Canada Post website? It’s using flash. For no good reason. Goddammit. Is nothing sacred? It seems like Canada Post is on this big marketing/brand recognition kick, which includes such things as selling free Internet CDs with a buttload of CP-branded stuff in it. And now this stupid silly new site. It’s not faster. Grr. And it’s using Active Server Pages. Where’s my clue-by-four.

  • oh happy day

My Soul Player has been shipped! Almost. It has a tracking number, but doesn’t seem to have been scanned yet. Oh I hope it comes tomorrow I hope I hope I hope…

  • Almera Comfort Hatchback

I just got spam from… a Nissan dealer in Turkey. They were trying to sell me an Almera Comfort Hatchback, whatever that is. It doesn’t exist in Canada, AFAIK.

I wonder what chuma means in Turkish?

  • ABS is the best material ever invented

The LEGO X-Wing Collectors’ Edition is the largest frickin’ LEGO model I have ever built. It’s huge. Massive. And Sandy and I only found time to build half of it this weekend. Still have the wings and the pedestal to go. But it’s already impressive.

This morning I found and used an Avid Cinema mug in the kitchen. Mmmm, video.

Speaking of video, on Thursday I hepled out with Ross’ annual shoot of the FPS play. You can read Calum’s story of the ’99 shoot here.

  • oh yeah…

I ordered the AVC Soul Player. I can’t wait. Finally, MP3/CD players seem to have matured into a product that does not suck.

Like Eli said, it’s better to consolidate formats. As cool as MD is, I’m not going there.

  • she’s big fish. i’m little fish.

You would have to be Jordan or Mere to get that one.

What have I been up to in the past week?

    • Newton Glossary. Not officially launched yet, but it will be soon.
    • Chasing down eBay sellers who were profiting off my back. Isn’t the Internet great?
    • Work work work.
    • Going out and watching Baraka.
    • Hacking Paul G’s Fortune app for the Newton. (Release is imminent)
    • Having weird dreams. Like last night. I dreamt that I was going to work on the bus, but I was the only one on the bus (except for the driver) and it was cold and I was only wearing a towel, but I had a bag with me that had a change of clothes. So I had to put on the clothes in the bus, and then I got the the subway station and was waiting on the platform (which was huge and weird, for some unknown reason) with other random people. Then some co-workers found me, and told me that they couldn’t get into the building and were looking for me to open the door (apparently I had the right passcard or something). So we got on the subway and went to work (which ended up being a very big building), and there were police and fire trucks parked outside. Some policeman came out of the building and asked me if I could identify the person in this photo (which was about 3′ by 5′, yes, feet) but all that was in the photo was the shadow of the person. Then I woke up, and I was cold because I left the window open last night.
  • talisman

As in both the Bjorn Lynne album, and the track by Air.

I realized that I blame myself for things beyond my control all the time. Like this morning at work, I was doing something and ended up taking down about half of our services (because I did something on the advice of someone else, but no one could have predicted that it would kill so many things) and even though I knew that it wasn’t my fault, I still felt like apologizing. My boss (who’s probably the greatest manager in the world) could tell without even asking, he just said as I left his office “Victor, it’s not your fault.”

Ehh, why not, let’s plug the new Maptuit 1.2.

  • fishy fish, oh fishy fish, I wish I wish I wish…

…I could leap inside your bowl, and eat you up whole.

I wish I could learn Japanese, just so I could read Japanese Newton pages.

  • white noise

    fuckin’ a:

    • The guy next to me insists on keeping the window open, so we can hear the din from the air conditioners on teh roof.
    • The security system guys are still working. They installed the new security pad, right next to my desk, but didn’t program it. This causes it to emit an 85dB beep every 10 seconds. I found the guy and asked him to fix it, so he came and took the pad out.
    • Hey, at least my monitor has stoped shaking randomly.
