  • voteeducation.ca

VoteEducation.ca – the Toronto Metro (free tabloid-style commuter newspaper, circulation: insane numbers) ran a full-page colour ad on the back page advertising this website. CFS, you kick ass. Educating student voters is much needed, thank you.

  • more guster more guster more guster

Guster back in Toronto on Nov 29th @ Lee’s Palace! Woo!

I had other stuff to rant about, but I’ll do that later.

  • Hybrids good. Canadian companies good.

CBC News: Purolator to buy up to 2,000 hybrid electric vehicles – It’s great to see companies investing in hybrid vehicles, and even better for Canadian companies to be buying Canadian-made hybrid vehicles. Man, I want a Toyota Prius.

  • boy, windows can be good and yet so stupid.

How is it that with all of the cool new stuff that Microsoft has done to Windows, the Fonts control panel and installation screen has not changed in over 10 years?!

  • Sept 19, 2003: Guster & Sam Roberts

On Friday night we went to the Guster & Sam Roberts concert. Even though technically Guster was opening for Sam Roberts, when they played in the states Sam actually opened for Guster. And besides, I’ve been a Guster fan for quite some time now so they get top billing in my books.

The concert was nothing short of a friggin’ great time. I’ve been waiting like five years to finally see Guster live, and they played all the songs I wanted to hear and kicked ass. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention we were right at the front of the crowd, wedged between a steel barrier and 4,000 people. The best part was, when the roadies were tearing down Guster’s stuff to make room for Sam Roberts, someone else in the front row got one of the set lists that was taped to the stage, but I guess word had trickled down about how I was the biggest Guster fan in the audience and so they were nice enough to pass it down to me. I was in 7th heaven.

Sam Roberts kicked some serious ass too.

We left a bit early and talked to one of the Guster folks who was at the merch booth (and was also taking pictures right in front of us) and then waited outside near the GusBus to try and meet the band. Low and behold, we got to meet Adam and he signed my set list. Which kicked ass.

  • BBC NEWS | UK | England | ‘Superhero’ takes on clampers – if I had a clamp on my car, I would call this guy. I would just request that he stay at least 5 metres away from me, ’cause that costume is just scary.

  • Hopefully this will not be a daily occurance.

This was right outside my apartment building this morning at 8:20am. Luckily, I don’t think there was anyone in the bus shelter at the time since that stop is now only used between 1am and 6am.

Van in the bus shelter... ouch

  • from the “ticket systems that are a ripoff” department

I’ve long hated movietickets.com. Every single movie at Famous Players has their ad in front of it, trumpeted about how easy it is, how you don’t have to line up, etc etc. What a crock of shit. I’ve never had to line up for tickets for two reasons: I always use the automated ticket machines to buy tickets (b/c I’m an Interac junkie), and if there is some HUGE event planned, there are usually always advance ticket sales (I bought tickets for LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring a month in advance). If you use movietickets.com, you get the convenience of being able to print your own tickets, but it COSTS AN EXTRA $1. Lame. Totally lame.

Ticketmaster is now doing a similar thing for some venues. You can print your tickets and then not have to pick them up, line up at will call, etc. But getting your tickets in the mail is $2.25. And TicketFast service (printing your own) is $2.50. But it seems that now mail service is only available for venues that don’t do TicketFast. Allow me to say: bastards!
